Research in the 8 PFRs

The founding institutions and the national research organisations represent together the main actor for public research in the Lyon Saint-Étienne region, with 5,000 researchers and teacher-researchers working in some 100 research units in all fields of research.

These units contributed to the success of the site when responding to the PIA calls for projects: Graduate Schools of Research, Convergence Institutes, Laboratories of Excellence.

The site is the first partner of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and the National Institute of Health and Medical Research (Inserm), outside Île-de-France. Approximately 2,200 CNRS staff in 77 research structures, including 57 UMRs, participate in the advancement of knowledge in all disciplinary fields, with the involvement of researchers in teaching.

*The asterisk indicates the main supervisions, which are still to be confirmed. Secondary supervisions are currently discussed in close collaboration with research units. All research units are designated by their French name.
